A photo from an earlier trip

A rather fun sculpture outside one of the many restaurants we visited in Sarasota. We might have neither seen nor heard nor uttered evil, but we certainly did some damage to our waistlines. The Colony Club's all-you-can-eat Sunday buffet is one of those unmissable culinary treats in this very lovely American city.
The Muse has completed her packing - most economically as it happens and we're on our way. Travelling is always tedious - almost as tedious as looking at other people's blogs, but the places to which our travels take us provide at least some compensation for the hours in planes, trains and automobiles and this trip will provide some amazing new sights and experiences and new ways of consuming huge sums of cash. We are most looking forward to seeing Hawaii's volcanos, the fiords and mountains of New Zealand and Australia's Red Desert, but who knows what surprises this trip will hold. The first leg of the trip - home to the airport - looks as though it will not disappoint. An ambulance rushes past presumably heralding an accident ahead. Oh well, we didn't really want to get there early. Is this a traffic jam I see before me?

Good- bye UK

Final night at home for some time. I always worry about sleeping in strange beds. Our own is just so comfortable. Is tonight the last night we're going to get any sleep? I hope not. Tomorrow night will be OK. The Sofitel at Heathrow - their 'MyBed' as they call it is always comfortable. There you are fellow travellers - our first tip; stay in Sofitels and no I'm not on their payroll! Second tip.......breakfast at Gordon Ramsay in T5 at Heathrow....it'll set you up for the whole flight so you can avoid the horror that is airline food.
